Having followed Lavigne's thread about his anti-tax campaign
and his attack on <arion@greek.poets> I offer the following comments:
- Lavigne has accused <arion@greek.poets> of being a
forger/plagarist/coward without even the tiniest fraction of circumstantial
evidence, as though his accusation sprang to
light through divine revelation. How would you like it if your
employer/government accused you of theft/murder/rape/fraud etc
and stated this as sublime fact in a public medium without any substantiating
evidence? This suggests a strong case of libel/slander (and hints at the likes
of the Spanish Inquisition).
- Lavigne has used the foulest language I have ever witnessed in any
medium in reference to <arion@greek.poets>.
I am not surprised that <arion@greek.poets> would not
lower himself to answer a person with such an uncouth and uncontrolled tongue.
- Lavigne is so filled with self importance that
he suggests that his foul-mouthed accusations and slanderous
attacks have made <arion@greek.poets> magically disappear. I
am not filled with Lavigne's self importance and can add a
few other plausible reasons:
- he overstayed his welcome in rec.arts.poems (which is the
newsgroup to which he posted almost exclusively).
- nobody liked him or his writing.
- he found interests besides the internet.
- he is poor and cannot afford his internet bill.
these are just a few, from the top of my head.
Your's sincerely
Thomas Scott

To: <arion@greek.poets>
I have offered, in the past, to enter an exchange of posts with
regard to my strongly held beliefs that you were responsible for
a series of malicious attacks upon myself.
I shall reserve the why and how that
strongly held suspicion arose.
However, the above poster <tscott@northpole.com> has
caused me to look at the matter in a new light.
It is only because of his offer of a defense on your
part and a strong admonishment directed to me for what
he believes, properly or improperly, was a misdirected
attack upon yourself, that I now inform you that, due to
his comments, I have, at length, reviewed the series of
posts, many of which bore an astounding number of congruent
points, that led to my painful conclusion that you were,
indeed, responsible for the attacks. (The colloborating
action that drove me to make my accusation will be known
(should be known) only to the party using the anonymous
<arion@greek.poets> identity and one other.)
Specifically, I reviewed one post wherein you addressed
another's attack upon me, and realized that I did, for
whatever mistaken reason, misread that which you offered
to that poster.
In view of such and the sad fact that the language I did
resort to was less than complimentary and rather odious,
I do offer my most profound apologies and urge you to once
again offer your significant contributions to poetry.
In this regard I also thank the above <tscott@northpole.com>
for his comments and strong remonstration.
With respect to my recent post "Little Dingo", all should
be aware that I am most prepared to do exactly as I state
that I shall, and come to an agreement with the IRS with
respect to whoever continues to perpetrate a crime of
"identity fraud" against myself and my name.
Should that person be yourself; in view that I did seem
to overwhelm you when first accusing you, you are absolved
for such conduct up to and including today, August 3, 1998.
As of August 4, 1998 I will make a deal as described in
the post "Little Dingo", regardless that it should slow
my promotion of the Tax Refusal by 20 years. I will not
suffer attacks by fools, or any other, on the sole means
that offers humanity any chance of addressing that which
we must face if our continuity through the early years of
the nuclear era is to be assured.
To another point. <tscott@northpole.com> closes
his comments thusly:
** If you accuse those who seek anonymity of cowardice,
you accuse all those who vote by means of secret ballot
of the same brand of cowardice **
I do accuse all who would participate in the practice
of "secret ballots" of being afflicted by, and subject to,
an overwhelming and, indeed, stenchful degree of cowardice.
It is due to that very cowardice by which the bastards of
this world have led fools to permit AND PAY FOR(!) weapons
that mock the very meaning of all life.
ie. All should learn that they MUST stand for what they
believe and do so openly. We can no longer afford the luxury
of lying to each other and believing our own lies. The very
worthand meaning of "life" should dictate that bit of reality
and deny us any other standard.
And I continue to maintain that all who post anonymously
do so because of their lack of backbone and will to address
and truly consider the "meaning of life" as it applies to them
and their feelings of inadequacy when it comes to presenting
their own viewpoint.
If I, a person of limited formal education, can learn to
form and focus my thoughts in order to arrive at that which
I firmly believe is to the constructive well being of all,
no other dare whine to me that they "must" remain anonymous.
Indeed, when they understand the limitations and burdens
that cowardice and the desire to speak from the shadows
places upon them, they shall change their views and grow
into adulthood.
Meanwhile, all others suffer their empty and meaningless
rhetoric to no good individual or societal purpose.
I should need but to point out the openess of my campaign
against societal insanity and the bastards and bureaucrats
who would do, and have done, their best to mock all effort
that is directed towards the waking of society.
If I, one who quite willingly stands alone and publicly
confronts any and all with regard to my views, wherever
the exchange of such views must take place, the argument
for anonymity goes flying out the nearest window with the
piss pot in which it first floated. I thank you.
As always,
taxfree

It seems as if I failed to complete the first sentence in the paragraph above. The inclusion, in CAPS after the comma following the word "place" represents the inadvertent ommission. Note that attempts to deliver cc's to the two "concerned" parties failed. Such should be considered an indication that anonymity has its costs. ie. "Thomas Scott" could have received an immediate reply to his very first posting under that name, if he would but have shed the cowardice that leads him to plead that all should graciously accept the need of cowards to post anonymously. Now, dearest little Tommy, who is "paranoid"; the party that dares not use its true name, or he who tells all, including cowards and the truly paranoid, where they can go with their little red wagons and crayons? Go away! Shoo! Scat! . . . And tell your mother to change your diaper! Lavigne, you strike me as an intelligent person who does his research, believe
two things, at this moment I am not your enemy, and I respect your convictions, as I
would respect the convictions of any religion, political party etc. Your first answer to
my post is a sincere portrait of your personality, one I can empathize with and respect.
Your second post is another matter, one which I shall ignore save for the fact that this
post (yours included) is cross-posted to two newsgroups that deal specifically with
anonymity.
I could offer the 'world' a profile of your personality as I percieve it but will
limit myself only to the parts I consider relevant.
- you are a person who is grounded firmly in reality and therefore cannot deal with
so called internet phantoms who exist as other personalities (or anonymously). It is
this grounding that makes you want a 'name' at which you can lash out. If you want a
name, it is Thomas Scott.
- it is your ilk (I suspect) that have been the downfall of anonymous servers such
as anon.penit.fi, which I miss and from this article onwards, shall refuse to post until
such service is restored with full anonymous privileges ie, the right to refuse to
reveal users names despite a court order.
- you argue that your birth does not condemn you pay PERSONAL TAXES yet you would
argue that your birth condemns you to a NAME? We could have a lengthy debate about this
Lavigne but I have my personal vows to uphold (as mentioned in the above paragraph).
- if anonymous people perturb you, consider their writing as mere graffiti on a wall
and award it with the status that it deserves, some of it is good, some of it is bad,
most of it can be whitewashed the next day.
So much for anonymity.
Regarding your tax theory and the mutual destruction of all civilisation as we know
it, I offer the following points:
- PERSONAL TAXES may be avoided but governments would seek to impose taxes in other
ways eg. VAT, Customs and Excise, Duties, Corporate taxes, Levies etc. How would you
propose to circumvent all of these? You are not 'taxfree' as long as you pay VAT or any
other levy imposed on products such as fuel, cigarettes, liquor, etc. (VAT is another
form of Sales Tax). Your personal action may benefit you in the short term but will
impose a heavy burden on you and your neighbours in the long term ie. personal taxes are
identifiable whereas hidden taxes are not.
- I agree with Lavigne to the extent that governments ARE greedy and that I would
like nothing more than see this greed curbed if not cut off all together. I do not agree
with Lavigne in that he wants an all out nuclear devastation of this planet. This is a
wasteful view and points to the fact that Lavigne does not have children whom he would
like to have realise a full life (taxed or taxfree) as the one he had (think back to
the Spanish Inquisition and all the babies who died because they may have been led into
the Devil's temptation, this is what Lavigne is saying, deny all those who may have had
a chance to life the right to this life just in case they paid their taxes).
- I sympathize with Lavigne in that he wants to 'spread' his 'message' to the world,
all wannabe authors and 'piss pot poets' surely would like to realise such a goal. I
denounce Lavigne in the manner in which he proceeded to disseminate his 'message' ie.
spamming any and all newsgroups with so called 'attachments' to make his message
relevant to that newsgroup.
So much for the tax mumbo jumbo.
Lavigne, my organisation's name is not 'Ice Cold' for nothing, it has a purpose.
Yours sincerely
Thomas Scott.
