Is there a site where you can download any version of MacTCP? A customer that I'm helping setup seems to have a corrupt version of MacTCP, and I would like to re-install it. Also, what are the essential files for MacTCP, and where do they go? One more thing, I would like to get the local talk icon out of the MacTCP setup window. Which file should I be looking for and where? Thanks For all your help. Please reply to gblack@rain.org.

A No (or at least 'there shouldn't be'), you can download patches from ealier versions up to 2.0.6 > customer that I'm helping setup seems to have a corrupt version of > MacTCP, and I would like to re-install it. One more thing, I would like to MacTCP - Control Panels folder Hosts (a text file) - top level of system folder MacTCP DNR - top level of system folder and if not using localtalk/ethertalk/ethernet then a connection extension which goes in the extensions folder (e.g. PPP, FreePPP, InterSLIP...) their respective installers & documentation detail this ... > get the local talk icon out of the MacTCP setup window. Which file Only by removing localtalk support from the ROMs (i.e. no can do, anyway education is better than emasculation, teach your user what they should have selected....) > should I be looking for and where? The kit has a MacTCP installer. Cheers Greg

I unexpectedly got a copy of MacTCP 2.0.6 (the latest version) by downloading the eXodus (X server) demo. (Prior to that, I'd had a 1.x version.) Hopefully you can find it in a smaller package, :-) but if not, the address is: http://www.wpine.com/ : Also, what are the essential files for MacTCP, and where do they go? As far as I can tell, the only file you need is the MacTCP control panel itself. Nice and simple. It will make a prefs file when you click on it to set it up. -- William McBrine | http://www.clark.net/pub/wmcbrine/html/ wmcbrine@clark.net | Unsolicited commercial emailers will be annihilated

Go to: ftp://ftp.apple.com/devworld/Development_Kits/ and there you will find the file: ftp://ftp.apple.com/devworld/Development_Kits/MacTCP.sit.hqx It's pretty big and has more than MacTCP 2.0.6 in it, but it should do the trick. It appears to be publicly accessible. Look at the file ftp://ftp.apple.com/devworld/Development_Kits/MacTCP.txt to see what is contained in the .hqx file. Regards, Robert Eye
