Is there anything one can do to make PPP automatically disconnect when quitting Internet application or when finished to download mail from the mail server? At the moment I have got this problem both with OT/PPP and free PPP Even the version of Claris that is suppose to include this feature. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Cathy G

FreePPP (and I think, OT/PPP) has a "timeout if idle after xx minutes" setting. PPP software simply responds to requests to move packets. It doesn't know whether a running program is a comm program or not, so it's not going to care whether a program quits or not. There's no way for it to tell that you're done unless you say so. Suppose you're running more than one comm program. You quit one, but still need PPP for the other. All the program knows is what requests for packets it gets; and may be set to timeout if it gets no requests for a while. You could, however, write an AppleScript that quits all comm programs, then quits the PPP connection. -- ----------------------------------------------------- There's nothing right in my left brain. There's no way for it to tell that you're done Dunno if this helps, but Eudora Lite has a Settings option to close PPP when you quit Eudora. Note that it will only close PPP if it was the app that opened it (a good safety feature). -- Carl Witthoft(changeDOT) cgw@worldDOTstd.com carl@aoaincDOTcom Pinball maniac, windsurfer, volleyball setter, happy Dad http://world.std.com/~cgw
