There were, but since I didn't pay attention, I can't provide
sources. :(

Mcfarlane> What exactly happens in such situations?

Mcfarlane> I can't imagine that Germany would simply let someone
Mcfarlane> who (z.B.) murdered someone in Canada and managed to
Mcfarlane> make it back to Germany to go unpunished.

Nope. It wouldn't. As long as the alleged crime is a crime in Germany,
the elleged offender will be prosecuted upon notification of the
proper authorities and judged according to German law. But he or she
will NOT be turned over to a foreign country.

Mcfarlane> Would that person be arrested and tried in Germany by
Mcfarlane> German authorities? Would the German government pick
Mcfarlane> up the tab for witnesses to be flown to Germany to
Mcfarlane> participate in the trial? Or what?

Good question. I'll try to dig up some infos on this.

    Mcfarlane> Here's some more questions:

Mcfarlane> - Is Kohl going down this year or not?

Hard to tell. Just now it's not a question of who's more able to run
the country, but who is less UNable. And right now the SPD and her
leader, Scharping, are not exactly promising. Clueless, all of them...

Mcfarlane> - Why do some people put a D before the
Mcfarlane> Postl(mumble)zahl? Is it because they're so used to
Mcfarlane> putting a W or O and they canna break the habit?

Nope, that's just an additional information used by some Europeans. D
for german, AU for Austria, etc. It's not really needed.
