Haven't seen this plastered all over the place yet, so it can't hurt to mention it again (and again...) Might save some load on the OS link(s). ANU's SunSITE machine in Canberra (aka Boomer) is happily cranking away, and has a full mirror of the Linux goodies from its brother "sunsite.unc.edu" over in North Carolina. Try one of these: http://sunsite.anu.edu.au/archives/ ftp://sunsite.anu.edu.au/pub/linux Happy downloading. Paul.

Agreed. I've found it's missing quite a bit there. Are there any plans of a FULL mirror of sunsite? well .. not many people use debian (speaking from the download stats :)
and .. trust me ... it is DAMN hard to maintain a up-to-date mirror of
sunsite.unc.edu, some times you have to make sacrifices and sometimes there
is not a lot you can do about it even if you want too.
I think we (ftp.dstc.edu.au) finally decided to axe debian because it was
taking too long to mirror (and holding up the mirroring of other more popular
directories) and percentage wise .. no one was using it.
>mayybe its an oversight or something ..but it just aint here :P
Well .. I wish them luck down there in ANU .. tis a tought battle trying to
keep up.
Remember: be nice to them .. most of these people do it for Zero dollars,
so if you like their service .. send them a thank-you note/email :)

Any chance of also mirroring http://sunsite.unc.edu/mdw/linux.html?
(ie. the Linux Documentation Project Home Page)
And why does Netscape change the "Location:" label to "Netsite:"? Not
another one of these hacks like "jwz", I hope.

Try one of these: > http://sunsite.anu.edu.au/archives/ > ftp://sunsite.anu.edu.au/pub/linux I suppose i might add that DSTC mirrors the linux kernel patches from finland under: ftp://ftp.dstc.edu.au/pub/linux-kernel Our sunsite/kernel mirror is setup so that it lives in the same area as sunsite's kernel area is, e.g /pub/linux/kernel/v1.3, to save disk space. This mirror checks more than once a day, so it usually has the latest kernel patches within a few hours of release. Especially useful for avoiding those 2M downloads of a complete kernel tar from europe. as for comments about redhat.. an example of how difficult it is to mirror from the redhat home site.. i've had a redhat mirror running for > 2 days now, and i think it's transferred about 10 files so far. :-/ -jason -- jason andrade.......dstc,.pty,.ltd.............jason@dstc.edu.au. sysadmin............gehrmann laboratories......i just wanna be... phn: 61-7-33654673..university.of.queensland...bluemisty......... fax: 61-7-33654311..brisbane,.4072,.australia..and barefooted....

I believe there is also a list of full mirror sites available from the site. If this interests you, things are usually pretty quiet on the net over here between 2300 and 0400 Pacific Daylight Time (-8.00 GMT). Hope this helps. Paul G. Nothing real can be threatened. So I don't think it's ftp.redhat.com.. If your trying to mirror from gatekeeper.digital.com.au then forget it!! Mirror will run for weeks on end. That site is so slow! However UQ -> Sydney is on a fastpac10 and then the US, so i don't think it's the local pipe thats causing problems. i figured the usual culprit of mci -> rest of the us, e.g ftp.redhat was where the bottleneck would be. >Sorry, I meant the complete RPMS packages.
