Hi, couple of days ago a friend of mine asked me to help getting his HP DJ 500 to print. I came over, did ls>/dev/lp1, got a staircase effect. Then I tried lpr, just to see what happens: it printed one line and then started spitting out plain paper. I dequeued the job, turned it off, wrote a filter to set it to translate LF into CR+LF (and later found the same script in the HOWTO :) and everything worked fine. Couple of hours later the guy rings me saying that it's spitting plain sheets of paper out again. He didn't change anything, only rebooted the machine. The guy is running Slackware 2.3. Does anyone know about any bugs in lpd/lpr/Slackware itself that could be responsible? Or anything special about the printer? Thanks in advance. Dimitri
