thanks for reading this post...

This is what I'm trying to do:

I have a Linux box (486dx2/66, 16 M RAM, Linux 1.2.13) with a ppp link
(dynamically assigned IP number) to my ISP...ppp works fine.
I want to set up a small ethernet network of PCs with various configurations,
including some DOS/Windows ones, that can use my Linux box as a gateway to
share the ppp link.

I'd like to be able to use Netscape and various winsock apps on the networked
PCs to provide Web browsing, news reading and eventually email to our users
(this is a library).

I gather I can set up a web server on my linux box to service requests from
the other PCs...I'm not too sure how I can provide news and mail...

My main question is: What can I use for a TCP/IP stack on the PCs ? I wanted
to use Trumpet Winsock, but you seem to have to specify a comms port for it to
work (i want to use ethernet). I'd like a free/cheap solution ;-)

I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice, for the TCP/IP stack or about the rest
of the plan. Thanks for your time...

Eric
