ASUS P/I-P55TP4XE MB, 256K pipeline-burst cache module, P120, 16Meg DRAM.
#9 GXE64 SVGA card, 2Meg DRAM.
NCR53C810 no-name card.
DEC RZ26 1Gig fast SCSI-II (Linux).
QUANTUM Lighting 730Meg fast SCSI-II (DOS + OS/2).
NEC CDR 841 double speed CD-ROM.
On the ISA bus I have a PAS16 sound card and NE2000 ethernet card.
The NCR card is using level triggered IRQ 11.
When I tried the vanilla rel11 (less D.Platt's changes) in my system when I
had a 486DX2/66 with a Gigabyte Saturn 4 MB (all other stuff the same) it
locked up as well but never recovered. The updated rel11 by D.Platt at least
recovered after resetting the SCSI bus. If I hadn't been monitoring the
logs and watching the system as I stressed it, the problem could have gone
unnoticed. I posted my log file to the NCR53C810 mailing list. I also noticed
somebody else post their log that looked very similar to mine, so I guess
I'm not the only one.
BTW, if I restrict access to the Linux partition only then it doesn't seem
to have a problem (although I can't be sure as I didn't run it for very
long). It's only when I have both drives active at the same time that it
dies very quickly. I didn't use the CD-ROM in any testing. I also had
synchronous 5MB/s access going to the both harddisks but not the CD-ROM as
it doesn't support sync access.
Cheers.
