Sorry about that last post. Mr D. Suter (suter@fawlty8.eng.monash.edu.au) wrote: : : I have had no luck getting the boot disk to recognise : : my scsii disk (quantum empire 2Gb) on a PCI-sc200 card : : with the ncr53c810 chip. : [text deleted] : : and at all times the *#$%$##@$%% message (after recognising the ncr53c810 : : chip and printing the adress 0xf8007000, io 0x6700, irq 0) is : : that IRQ0 is not free. : [ text deleted] I am experiencing the same problem as Mr. Suter. My system: ASUS P90 (PCI/I-P54NP4) mainboard Award Modular BIOS V4.50G, #401A0-0201 with NCR PCI SCSI BIOS V3.04.00 GA-410 PCI SCSI card with NCR 53c810 chip, set to INTA and IRQ 9 per mfr. instructions Observed behavior: NCR BIOS correctly shows SCSI devices on startup DOS access works fine (of course, DOS probably doesn't use ints) DOS based NCR CAM driver reports IRQ=00, DMA=0 when loaded Linux boot gives same IRQ 0 message reported by Mr. Suter, with exception of memory 0xfc000000, io 0xd000 I had tried all of the posted tricks, including boot parameters, IRQ changes for assignment and level/edge, write buffer and burst disable/ enable, to no avail. It is now quite apparent that the BIOS is not providing proper parameters for the driver. Can anyone tell me how to contact Award Software for a flash BIOS upgrade? I would be so much happier to see the proper IRQ reported and then have the boot hang (as reported elsewhere) than have Linux merrily start without the drive ;) Guess I'll have to hack the driver either way. Thanks in advance, Stan Pennington (206) 632-9190
