Remote Access BBS under OS/2 2.1

Has anyone else managed to get RA 2.01+ to run smoothly under OS/2? I know it
can be done but it just wont do it for me... This is annoying me incredibly,
and I am now looking for native OS/2 BBS software, and before anyone goes and
tells me how great it is to have native OS/2 apps, the reason I bought OS/2 is
so I could run my existing BBS and multitask it properly.

First problem. VX00.SYS as provided in the SIO 1.26f package will hang the
computer on me. I can open a dos window and it will load ok, but as soon as I
tryt to run anything everything just freezes. As such I have had to use BNU
1.70 in a DOS window. This was working to a degree but the best I can squeeze
out of it at the moment is about 15 minutes and then the com port will just
stop responding and if there is a user on, it will drop the carrier.

I thought the serial ports might be stuffed, so I got a new serial card, and
now it seems as though my dos programmes can't properly access com3 and com4.
I have set up SIO so that COM3 and COM4 are recognised. When it's trying to
initialise the modem, I can see the RxD and TxD lights flashing, so I know the
modem is still working OK, but the DOS programmes never seem to see what the
modem is saying back to it.

All the COM ports work fine under OS/2.

What's the story? Are OS/2's DOS VDM's broken? Am I doing something really stupid
(I can only hope)?

I haven't installed the CSD yet (it's in the mail), so I am trying not to
become frustrated with it until I see if the CSD fixes any of my problems.

Can anyone shed some light on my problem? Surely someone's been through
similar circumstances before? I thought OS/2 looked pretty neat when I first
installed it by the shine is fading away...

Thanks in advance...
