How's it hangin'

Got a wee problem with a LaTeX document I'm trying to prepare.

I  would like the  information in the  header to  be  displayed on all
pages  of my  document  (yes,  petty isn't it  :^). The info stored in
\markboth{_blah_}{_blah_} is not   placed  on the  first  page, and I,
being  extremely pedantic, would  prefer this to  the case. As general
background...

\documentstyle[11pt]{article}             
\pagestyle{myheadings}
\markboth{_blah_}{_blah_}

I get the page number in  the top right hand  corner of the first (and
subsequent)  pages  but no _blah_ (this is  displayed on  the top left
hand side of subsequent pages).
                                  
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
