Sean Waltman Released From WCW, Contacts WWF
Sean Waltman, known to wrestling fans as Syxx of the nWo, has been
released from his contract with World Championship Wrestling. Syxx has been
out of the wrestling ring for months because of a neck injury he sustained at
a taping of the syndicated WCW Pro program. The injury was later aggrivated at
the WCW PPV "Halloween Havoc" when the neck was wrenched by Larry Zbyszko.
Waltman's stay with the organization has not been a trouble free one. He
has been in trouble with Eric Bischoff, President of WCW, in the past. Waltman
was fired on two previous occassions because of his conduct. He stayed with
the promotion because Bischoff changed his mind with a little help from two of
Waltman's close friends, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.
Wade Keller, of the Wrestling Torch, is reporting that Bischoff sent the
release as he was about to go into a pre-Nitro meeting with Nash, Hall and
Hulk Hogan. That meeting was to clear tentions between the three men. However,
Hall and Nash did not know of the impending release and maynot have found out
about it till yesterday.
Bob Ryder of 1wrestling.com is reporting that Waltman recieved a written
letter of release on Tuesday. The release comes just days prior to a special
personal appearance to sign autographs on WCW's behalf.
With Syxx unemployed, he and his agent have already been in contact with
his former employer Vince McMahon and Titan Sports. Waltman wrestled as the
1-2-3 Kid under his employment with the Stamford, Connecticut based group
before leaving to join the Atlanta based WCW to become part of the nWo.
Cablevision to Carry ECW
The last remaining roadblock in the way of a full ECW pay-per-view
invasion has been removed. Cablevision has announced that it will start
carrying the ECW product on their entire pay-per-view market starting with the
next one which is "Wrestlepalooza."
Cablevision was the last major market holding out on carrying ECW's pay-
per-view. Viewer's Choice had decided before "Living Dangerously" to carry the
event making Cablevision the lone hold out.
Cablevision was carrying the ECW product only on their "Hot Choice"
channels which are on a very limited basis. This will be the first time ECW
will be able to be seen by everyone. "Wrestlepalooza" will be held on May 3rd
in Marietta, Georgia at the Cobb County Civic Center.
WCW and EA Sports Sign Agreement
After the recent parting of the ways between World Championship Wrestling
and THQ comes news of a deal between WCW and America's leading independent
interactive softwars company, Electronic Arts. The deal between the two
companies is for 5 years at an undiscolsed amount of money.
"World Championship Wrestling is a huge spectator sport that is growing
at an amazing rate," said Larry Probst, Electronic Arts Chairman and CEO.
"Over the past two years, WCW has established the preeminent brand in
wrestling entertainment, typically garnering audiences of 32 million viewers
per week. We believe that our world-class creative organization can
successfully translate the passion that fans feel for the WCW into best-
selling products for both video game consoles and PCs."
"The partnering of Electronic Arts with World Championship Wrestling is
an incredible opportunity," said Nick Lambros, executive vice president of
World Championship Wrestling. "EA and WCW are the best in their respective
fields and should be able to create highly innovative and successful games
for release in 1999 and beyond. We look forward to partnering with EA on
this mutually beneficial relationship."

As we reported last month 4 wrestlers from the APW promotion based out of
Hayward, California recieved try-outs with WCW. The outcome was a great
success as several WCW suits called it the best tryout in 3 years. It now
appears the same 4 wrestlers.. Donovan Morgan, Michael Modest, Maxx Justice &
Robert Thompson, will be getting yet another one. They will be involved in
singles match when WCW brings Thursday Thunder to the Oakland area in July.
Due to the reaction Yokozuna is currently having to some medication he is
on, he will no longer be appearing on the March 14th McConnellsburg,
Pennsylvania independent show. He was scheduled to meet the Sultan in a one-
on-one contest but will be replaced by Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka.
