 > RAW IS WAR REPORT by Doug Corti, WWF news editor
 > <JADCORTI@ARTSPAS.watstar.uwaterloo.ca>
 > -------------------------------------------------
 > This week, we are in Philadelphia, where a sign wishes Hogan a happy
 > 100th birthday.
 > We open with Stone Cold coming out for a rant. He wants to get
 > something
 > straight about Vince. He wants McMahon to bring his ass out for a man-to-man
 > talk, and he won't leave until Vince comes to the ring. McMahon eventually
 > comes out (w/ Patterson & a pair of Philly's finest). Steve asks who he
 > will be fighting at IYH:Unforgiven. Vince says he hasn't made up his mind
 > yet. Austin then says he realizes McMahon can't stand anything about him,
 > and that he thinks a champion should be Ivy educated. That isn't Stone Cold.
 > He says Vince wants someone, not like himself, but Vince himself, since
 > that description fits Vince to a T. Austin says he will put the WWF Title
 > on the line in Philadelphia, and the only opponent suitable is Vince McMahon.
 > Do the fans want to see it? Hell, yeah! Vince refuses. Steve says he could
 > beat Vince with one arm tied behind his back. Then, Austin gives McMahon
 > a choice of the easy way or the hard way. Vince asks about the notion of
 > "the easy and hard way". The easy way will give Vince a shot at the belt,
 > the hard way will be a non-title ass-whipping. Vince has 30 minutes.
 > MATCH 1: THOSE D.O.A. BALD GUYS vs. LOS BORICUAS (chain match).
 > The DOA bald guy rule is still in effect. Fast-forward time. Chainz gets
 > destroyed by the ramp, while TDOABG end up tied to the ropes. The match
 > is eventually ruled a no contest (I assume), and then the Xers, who were
 > at ringside, turn on Los Boricuas. Jose & Savio get destroyed.
 > MATCH 2: BRIAN CHRISTOPHER & SCOTT TAYLOR vs. EL PANTERA & Mr.
 > AGUILA. Before the match, Vince decides on the easy way, and he will face
 > Austin
 > tonight, punctuated with a "Hell, Yeah".
 > Then, before the match gets underway, The Undertaker comes out an
 > destroys the light heavyweights. Note: If you are going to steal ideas from
 > WCW,
 > steal good ones. The Taker then says Kane is the hunted, and issues a
 > challenge to Kane.
 > MATCH 3: JEFF JARRETT (w/ Lee) vs. TAKA MICHINOKU. Pamphlets drop
 > from the roof promoting Jarrett's singing appearance at IYH. He quickly
 > starts putting the boots to TAKA, and then gives him a swinging
 > neckbreaker. TAKA gets draped on the middle rope, and Jarrett jumps across
 > him. Michinoku starts to come back with a springboard cross body and a
 > bulldog. He goes to the top, but TAKA is caught and slammed. Superplex, and
 > then a short-arm clothesline. Jeff dropkicks TAKA. TAKA reverses an Irish
 > Whip, and spin kicks Jeff. Jarrett is clotheslins to the floor, and tries
 > to plancha Jarrett. only to find Lee in the way. While Lee is being chased
 > off, Klub Kamimaze comes in and destroys TAKA, bringing on the DQ.
 > Faarooq challenges Rocky to come out. The NOD appears on the ramp, and
 > the Rock signals the NOD to attack. Faarooq gives the NOD salute, and then
 > Shamrock and Blackman appear on the ramp, giving the salute as well. Tje
 > brawl is on.
 > Terry Funk comes out to introduce his new hardcore partner, a man
 > who Vince McMahon wold not give a chance.
 > MATCH 4: THE QUEBECERS vs. TERRY FUNK & TOO COLD SCORPIO. The
 > Quebecers start the attack as soon as Scorpio enters the ring. E-C-W chant,
 > as Terry and Jacques trade punches. Pierre is tagged in, and he starts to
 > attack. Funk punches back, and makes the tag to Scorpio. He drop kicks and
 > clotheslines both Quebecers. Scorpio climbs the buckles, but Pierre backs
 > in the ropes to knock him down. A belly-to-belly superplex sends Scorpio to
 > the mat. Scorpio is dropped on the top rope, as Pierre sets up for the
 > assisted Le Cannonball. Terry Funk knocks Jacques from the ring, while
 > Scorpio delivers the 450 splash.
 > Luna comes out to call out Sable. SableDust answers the challenge,
 > and Luna quickly strips off his evening gown. (VOMIT) Sable then bounces
 > out to
 > the ring, and there is a brief catfight.
 > Dan Severn is sent to the back before:
 > MATCH 5: THE NEW MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (w/ Cornette) vs. KEN SHAMROCK &
 > STEVE
 > BLACKMAN. Ken starts off with Bart, and quickly clotheslines the former Smoking
 > Gunn to the mat. Blackman comes in with a jumping kick. Bob is tagged in
 > behind Blackman's back, and he dropkicks Steve. Blackman quickly
 > spinebusters Bob, and after a brief exchange, back slides him for 2. Bob
 > then takes Steve over with a really weak rana. Blackman quickly chops Bob
 > to the canvas. Slam from Blackman, but he misses a middle rope headbutt.
 > Sign: "WHO'S GOLDBERG BLOWING?". Blackman takes over the role of the face
 > in peril, but Bob misses a dropkick, and makes the hot tag to Ken.
 > Shamrock takes care of both Express members. A powerslam is broken up at 1.
 > All four men end up in the ring, and the referee calls for the bell,
 > requesting a Double DQ.
 > In the back, Kevin Kelly talks to Vince. He says he wasn't afraid
 > of the
 > US Government and Ted Turner, and the same applies to Steve Austin.
 > MATCH 5: THE HEADBANGERS vs. ?????. The Undertaker comes out and
 > destroys the Bangers. This is getting real stupid. The lights go out again.
 > THROUGH HELLFIRE AND BRIMSTONE! (Yes, I know it is a dumb angle, I just
 > like typing the phrase) Bearer says the two will fight, and will do so on
 > Paul Bearer's terms. Next week, they will fight in a cemetary.
 > De-Generation X returns. Owen Hart appears on the ramp, and wonders
 > which Xer has the cajonesto take him apant tonight. HHH says all the Xers
 > wrote a 500-word essay. (insert penis jokes) The eventual winner was
 > Bad-Ass, since
 > his had illustrations of Owen with a barnyard animal. LOD 2000 (w/ Sunny)
 > comes out to back up Owen. COMMERCIAL.
 > MATCH 6: OWEN HART (w/ LOD 2000 & Sunny) vs. BILLY GUNN (w/ D-X)
 > (J.I.P.). Suplex from Billy when we return. Gunn punches Owen, but Hart
 > tries to
 > fight back. Snap mare, and Billy drops several knees. He gets a 2 count,
 > and then goes for a chinlock. Owen escapes, and cross bodies for 2. Hart
 > gets up into a clothesline. HHH & X-Pac say LOD's age is on their waistband.
 > Owen is choked against the ropes. Hart fights back with a reverse atomic
 > drop, and then hits a spinning heel kick for 2. Enzugiri also gets a near
 > fall. Gunn tries to escape, but is pulled back in the ring by his tights.
 > He is clotheslined to the floor, and does a Flair Flop on the floor. Gunn
 > is suplexed back in the ring. Gunn goes for a leapfrog, but Owen tries for
 > a sharpshooter. Owen goes after Chyna, and gets knocked to the floor. LOD
 > 2000 prevent a gang attack from the Xers. COMMERCIAL. Gunn tastes the
 > turnbuckle, and is brought into the ring. Billy is slammed, then is drop
 > kicked from the top for 2. Rude Awakening neckbreaker for 2. Owen then
 > drops his head early off an Irish whip, and Billy hits a Rocker Dropper.
 > Billy hits a powerslam, and starts to gloat. Owen takes advantage to roll
 > up Gunn. Owen retreats to the LOD's corner, while LOD does some crotch
 > chopping.
 > MATCH 7: VINCE MCMAHON (w/ Titan Suits) vs. 'Stone Cold' STEVE AUSTIN
 > (Heavyweight Title match). Shane McMahon comes down the ramp, to try to
 > talk Vince out of this. No luck. *CRASH* Austin comes out, and they ring
 > the bell. Slaughter, Brisco & Patterson come in the ring to back up Vince.
 > McMahon slaps Austin! He gets the mike, and reminds Austin that he could
 > beat Vince with one arm tied behind his back. Would Austin be a man of his
 > word? Brisco ties up his
 > right arm. If they want him to whip his ass, give Austin a "Hell, Yeah!".
 > The fans respond in kind. McMahon tries that, but gets a "Hell, No!" from
 > the Philly crowd. Briscoe then gives McMahon a mouthpiece, as Dude Love's
 > theme music. He asks a Rodney King-esque "Can't we all just get along",
 > and tries to bring peace to the War Zone. The Dudester wants to veto this,
 > since McMahon writes the checks, and that Vince is his main man, but Austin
 > could whip his ass. McMahon shoves Dude Love. Dude Love approaches
 > McMahon with the Mandible Claw. Austin comes from behind, and tastes the
 > Claw. Dude Love proceeds to to destroy ta one-armed Austin, while Vince
 > tries to get at Dude Love. Vince gets pulled to the back, while Love
 > continues to attack Austin. As the show ends, we see the Dudester choking
 > Austin on the announcer's table.

 > <JADCORTI@ARTSPAS.watstar.uwaterloo.ca>
 > -------------------------------------------------
 > MATCH 1: BARRY DARSOW vs. THE GIANT. If you need to know who won
 > this match, and with what move, you no longer have permission to read my
 > reports.
 > Lee Marshall interviews Prince Iaukea.
 > MATCH 2: LITTLE DRAGON vs. PSICOSIS. Psic backs Dragon to the
 > buckles, and breaks the hold. On the next lock-up, Dragon armdrags
 > Psicosis. Psicosis comes back with a kneelift, then drops an elbow. LD gets
 > choked against the ropes, and then Psicosis starts to work on Dragon's leg.
 > LD comes back, knocking Psicosis to the floor with a spin kick, and then
 > diving outside with a plancha. He returns to the ring with a slingshot
 > kneedrop for 2. Dragon goes to the top, and hits a sloppy forward roll into
 > a rana for another 2. Psic is up first, and he elbows Dragon. Front layout
 > suplex from Psicosis, and then he wins it with the Top-Rope legdrop.
 > MATCH 3: GLACIER vs. ADRIAN BYRD. Great sign about how long ago

 > clothesline, and hits Byrd with a weak Cyronic Kick to the midsection to
 > get the win.
 > MATCH 4: DISORDERLY CONDUCT vs. BILL PAYNE & BUTCH LONG. Sheesh. A
 > Disorderly Conduct squash? This is a bad joke, right? Sadly, the match goes
 > off as planned, and Disorderly Conduct gets what is likely their first win

 > PWD SPOTLIGHT on the ULTIMATE: Wrestlecology 101 with Dr. Jezz
 > ----------------------------------------------------------------
 > First, on Nitro, we saw Hollywood Hogan and the Disciple attack
 > Roddy Piper backstage. What you weren't told was that the segment was
 > pretaped so that Hogan could make an appearance on the Tonight Show with
 > Jay Leno last night.
 > I watched the appearance, and Hogan appeared in full NWO regalia,
 > and even discussed how he was no longer a good guy. He also talked about
 > his new movie, and his children.
 > You know, I should probably take this time to say here that, while
 > I do not agree with much of the backstage antics of Hulk Hogan, I must
 > admit that Terry Bollea has been largely responsible for wrestling reaching
 > the heights it has today.
 > Just last night, it was evident that he still possesses his
 > signature charisma, as Mimi Rogers seems transfixed by the Hulkster as well
 > as Leno. Also, in spite of appearances, away from the ring, Bollea is
 > obviously a dedicated family man, and is to be commended for taking time
 > with his family.
 > He continues to look out for his parents, who are 84 and 79, and
 > for that I commend him highly. There are times that all of us, yours truly
 > included, forget that, behind the orchestration, these are, in large part,
 > genuine individuals who are simply doing a job. While I don't know if I
 > will ever forgive Hogan for turning heel, I must admit, he has given me a
 > great deal more material to write about since the turn. But I digress.
 > Now here is a surprise, a disqualification ending to the Sting/Nash
 > match for the title! Now just who woulda thunk that? The match was the
 > best of the evening, with Nash dominating much of it, and Sting
 > demonstrating his now famous comeback ability. But we all knew Nash
 > wouldn't win the belt, not outside a PPV, so there had to be some sort of
 > screwball ending planned.
 > Make no mistake, Kevin Nash will be the WCW champ. But everyone knew
 > last night wasn't the night. By the way, I wonder if Sting using the world
 > b**ching and offering several crotch chops was planned or spur of the
 > moment. Remember that Bischoff, alarmed at the ever-increasing use of the
 > "chop", particularly by the Wolfpack, ordered all participants to "cease
 > and desist" immediately!
 > Well, the Wolfpack agreed, but it seems that Sting is attempting to
 > make a point to Uncle Eric. Now, in all sincerity, if this is planned,
 > fine, but if Steve Borden is trying to push Bischoff, I have to offer him
 > some friendly advice. Sting, Bischoff is prone to dismiss people that run
 > afoul of him, so, for your sake, tread very carefully.
 > Perhaps the biggest thing about Nitro last night was what, or more
 > properly who, wasn't there. That's correct, another Nitro without Ric
 > Flair. I hear that Flair was scheduled, along with Kimberly, for a Nitro
 > party, and that he was there instead of in Minneapolis.
 > Interestingly enough, this is the city of Flair's birth, and I
 > would have thought he would have taken that opportunity to make his big
 > announcement, which we all are hoping is the reformation of the Four
 > Horsemen. There was, that I noticed, not even a mention of Flair last
 > night, so maybe they are going to just pretend the annoucement was never
 > predicted. Hey, they've done far more stupid things than that, so expect
 > anything.
 > Unfortunately, I know hear that Bill Goldberg may very well not be
 > one of the new Horsemen, instead battling the Flock alone for a while. I
 > certainly hope this is incorrect, but I have heard it from some normally
 > reliable sources. Then again, these same sources said Flair would be at
 > Thunder, then, when he didn't appear, that he would definitely be at Nitro.
 > Maybe I should re-evaluate my sources.
