Dear Antje, A quick response to your question about Benin. Legislation opened up for communty radio in November 97. By the end of 97, there were about 4 or 5 community radios on air or as projects. I don't know of today. You may want to contact one AMARC member to find out, that is the Dassa Zoume community radio. if you contact AMARC head office (Marie-Line amarcho@amarc.org) they could give you their email contact. I am not in Montreal currently and cannot provide more information unfortunately. good luck Sophie Ly >I only remember a message early this year, announcing that the >airwaves were opened for commercial and community >broadcasting. > >Thanks very much, as usual, > >Antje Becker >(Program Assistant, Africa Alive!) > >Johns Hopkins University >Center for Communication Programs >School of Hygiene and Public Health >111 Market Place, Suite 310 >Baltimore, Maryland 21202-4024, U.S.A. >Tel.: +410-6596300 / Fax: +410-6596266 >E-Mail: ABecker@jhuccp.org > >
