I am using Turbo C++ free version and need to use the component IdHTTP from Indy 9. This component is not available at designed time, so I try to instanstiate an instance at runtime. I have add the \Indy9\IdHTPP.pas to my project and drop the reference of the .h file as well in my source. When I build the project I get this messages in french: [C++ Erreur] IdGlobal.hpp(416): E2316 'TMethod' n'est pas un membre de 'Sysutils' Why ? Sam

In the .h file of the TForm that uses the component you should have: #include <IdHTTP.hpp> And under Project | Options... | C++Compiler(bcc32) | Paths and Defines | Include Searchpath $(BDS)\source\Win32\Indy9 > When I build the project I get this messages in french: > > [C++ Erreur] IdGlobal.hpp(416): E2316 'TMethod' n'est pas un membre de > 'Sysutils' If you open IdGlopal.hpp then what is its full path? (You can find out by placing the mouse above the according tab of the editor). You will get a Hint then. I remember such errors when I first tried to use the component in this way. At the moment I do not know how I solved that. Hans.

This is how I do it. I just tested again. Please try the following: Start a new VCL application and save the project in its own directory (which you created before). Now we are going to add IdHTTP.pas in the following way: Write down the following -incorrect- include in Unit1.h: #include <IdHTTP> Now rightclick on that filename and choose 'Open file at cursor' You will see a file named IdHTTP Now choose Project | Add to project And voila you will see that IdHTTP.pas from the right Indy9 is ready to be added. Add it. Change the line to the correct include: #include <IdHTTP.hpp> Run. Hans.

Well you could instantiate one in the folowing way:
private: // User declarations
TIdHTTP *IdHTTP;
__fastcall TForm1::TForm1(TComponent* Owner)
: TForm(Owner)
{
IdHTTP = new TIdHTTP ( this );
}
void __fastcall TForm1::FormClose(TObject *Sender, TCloseAction &Action)
{
delete IdHTTP;
}
Hans.

I use this code :

if(Http){

Yes. Perhaps 2006 is the 4th BDS?

TMethod is in namespace System .... System::TMethod #include <vcl\system.hpp> #include <indy9\idglobal.hpp> Indy9\IdGlobal.hpp is less than 400 lines long, so you are probably not using the correct file. You are likely using an older version of Indy, one that predates BDS, or was not tweaked for BDS. Apparently, several things were moved from Sysutils:: to System:: in the VCL during the years between BCB5/6 and BDS2006. If you are pointing to the correct folder: C:\Program Files\Borland\BDS\4.0\Include\Indy9\IdGlobal.hpp Then you might want to re-install Indy9 from the BDS distribution files.

You can't add the .pas file alone like that. It won't work without the entire Indy library being linked to the project. > When I build the project I get this messages in french: > > [C++ Erreur] IdGlobal.hpp(416): E2316 'TMethod' n'est pas un > membre de 'Sysutils' TMethod is not a member of the SysUtils unit anymore. It was moved to the System unit in BCB 6.. Gambit

He can. And I could. See my description in this thread. Adding
one .pas file is enough. In casu IdHTTP.pas will cause the necessary
files to be compiled and linked.
These are all the files then found in the directory Debug_Build:

Indy does not ship with the free version of Turbo, and the free version does not allow you to install third-party components. Indy 10 ships with the Pro version. If you want to use Indy 9, you will have to compile and install it manually. Gambit
