Hello, I have an application that runs well on WindowsXP but will not load on NT4. Trying to start it only results in the message "System.PlatformNotSupportedException: 'ResourcePool' is not supported on the current platform at System.EnterpriseServices.Platform.Assert(....."! Does anyone know how to correct for this error? ServicePack 6a is running on the NT-machine and we are running the same version of the .net framework on both platforms. hoping for your kind assistance Per

If so, try setting adding pooling=false to your connection string. The PlatformNotSupportedException is supposed to indicate that a needed component is not installed, or is the wrong version. This error messages shows EnterpriseServices, which means COM+. As I recall, COM+ (Component Services) was provided by a separate download for NT4. Did you install this? Is your MDAC version up to date? Try adding Trace statements, or debug thru the load so you can see exactly where it fails. Eric

Many thanks for your advice. I am using oracle odp.net and by adding trace statements I was able to pinpoint the place of failure to the Open() statement. Adding "Pooling=false" fixed the problem. thanks again and best regards Per <Eric> wrote in message news:40ed5478$1@newsgroups.borland.com... > Per wrote: > > > "System.PlatformNotSupportedException: 'ResourcePool' is not > > supported on the current platform at > > System.EnterpriseServices.Platform.Assert(....."! > > Are you using SQL Server? Adding "Pooling=false" fixed the problem. There is a performance hit in doing this. This will be an issue if you have users that hit the DB often, like a web app. Upgrading to Win2k or 2003 will help this situation. Eric
