Clearly the police are acting irrationally here, since you can buy
very adult magazines and videos in there town, unharrassed.

You should call them, too.

However, I think that a "cool" and socially responsible store would
not bend to the threats, have someone arrested, and fight it in court.
Given the state of NY's obscenity laws, selling a labeled CD to an adult
is clearly ok.  I also doubt that the police would actually arrest a
clerk selling such a CD to a minor.  I also believe that the NY ACLU
would provide the legal counsel for the store/clerk in trouble.

I believe that the selling of these CDs to minors is what the police
are trying to stop.  This is ok with me, and I believe that such law
is not contradictory to the first admendment, which has been shown
time after time not to necessarily apply to minors.
