For years I've been using (with plenty of opportunity) a paraphrase from
those amazing feats tv shows:

"Hey kids, this intersection was designed by a *PROFESSIONAL*! Don't try
to do it at home!"


With regard to the thread on the "Troy interstate," I believe most of
the land between 6th and 8th used to be a railroad, so not that many
houses were involved.  There was a station somewhere around where the Holiday
Inn was built, which explains why the RPI approach was built... not always
a stairway to nowhere.  This right of way  is now a bike path in Lansingburgh.
