Yes, from Division St up to State St this was true. The tracks came on a
diagonal from the river near where the infamous County Jail now is and
crossed Hill St at Washington and went into a tunnnel which emerged behind
the old Stanton Brewery (now the Italian Community Center). Most of the
properties purchased by the state were a block or two South of the tracks.

The only visible remnant of this railroad track is a stone wall behind
the Car Wash on Ferry St across from the Ahern Apts.

Exactly at the location of the Holiday Inn. I can remember being in it
as a youngster. In its time this was the primary entry point for travelers
to Troy, as important as the Albany Airport is now. (the Troy Airport never
amounted to much). The train station was closed in the late 50's.
