From 'Scott Nicol':

>I live in Beachwood, with very low taxes, great police, and
>great schools. And despite the fact I received my only speeding
>ticket (ever!) in Cleveland Heights, I don't think it's bad.

I grew up in Beachwood.

And as I said, I think Cleveland Heights has a wealth of things
to recommend it. If it weren't for a number of experiences like the one
I outlined here, I'd *still live there.*

>I know many people with kids in the schools there, and they don't
>have a problem.

My friend can't have her kids bussed to school any more, because it costs
too much. But the Cleveland Heights - University Heights school district
spent 50K last year to hire a PR person right after making this announcement.

Where are the priorities?

>Cleveland Heights has a few more things to deal with than Beachwood,
>including proximity to some really depressed areas of Cleveland and
>East Cleveland, a school system burdened with teaching kids from
>said areas (enrolled illegally), and no industry to support all of
>this stuff. The first two aren't their fault, and the lack of
>industry is tough to retrofit in a suburb that was never designed
>for it.

What does that have to do with the cops? Or the stupidity displayed by
the members of the school board? :)

A beautiful Chow puppy was rescued a couple months ago from the Geauga County,
Ohio animal shelter and has been fostered in a home in Montville, OH. After
receiving medical care and much love, he's ready for a permanent home.
