Did you talk with a manager? I have been doing business with a variety of CompUSA stores in the Philadelphia area for many years. I return an average of one or two items a year there and not once have I ever received a hassle with a return or been charged a restocking fee. For example, three months ago, I returned an opened printer that just did not work. I didn't even pack up the printer properly. I just dumped the pieces in the original box, presented my receipt and ask for a return and told the clerk it did not work. Fine, no problem. About a year ago, I bought at Netgear cable modem router. It would not work with both my computers; only one. After 12 weeks, I finally got around to returning it. I got my $120 back, turned around and bought a Linksys router from CompUSA on that same visit. I then found the same router at Best Buy for $20 less so I returned the router an hour later to CompUSA and they cheerfully returned my cash, no problem.
