Regarding those postings from RAID "advisory" board marketing, their scheduled RAID 3/4/5 marketing seminars in Newton, MA (Route 128) were just cancelled due to lack of any Route 128 interest in their older and much slower RAIDs. That's what happens to any computer industry vendor who doesn't stay on top of the latest industry developments. In general, UNIX (and VAX) systems administrators are now upgrading their installed configurations with the new RAID accelerator platforms that speed up I/O by many multiples, rather than putting in CPU upgrades that usually are not needed. Is that finally it for the rab, their "advisory" seminars, and their slower(!)-than-single-spindle architectures? John John O'Brien Tel. 603-880-3005 Storage Computer Corp.
