Hi there,
I am currently building a simulator that needs to keep
large amounts of data in memory at all times. The problem
is that as the program progresses it looses the ability to
access some of the data. I am building it in c++ and the main
data structures consist of arrays of objects ( which contain
two values each and the necessary methods to set and access
the values). I was told that you could put an identifier on
the objects and use this identifier to access the object. Does
anybody know how this might be done or of any other way
to keep hold on the objects.
All replies are greatly appreciated.

ObjectStores might be exactly what you need. It maps an object database into the virtual memory of your application. A database of (nearly) unlimited size can be accessed through it witch may spawn over many disks and machines. Likely, you do not even need to rewrite your code and classes to be able to store and retrieve the objects in a totally transparent manner for the application.
