Hi,

I am trying to get my linux box hooked up to a cable modem system that
is run by road-runner in the fairfax, va area.

There are lots of different possibilities and I think I have tried them
all. The only thing I can think of is that the setup for any given area
is different.

Some folks need to rrlogin, some folks need the road-runner version of
dhcp, some folks need pump, some folks need to specify your hostname on
the dhcpcd line, some need to reset the modem, some need the -r option.

I need to know if there is anyone that has had any luck in my area.
I have searched the web/faqs/dejanews to no avail.

The stuff on (http://www.vortech.net/rrlinux) sounds good, but it
doesn't seem to work.

I think I am close since my ethercard looks ok and the cable modem
lights blink with activity however there is never any response from a
DHCP server.

The _really_ frustrating thing is that this stupid winblows OS has no
problem whatsoever!

thanx for any help you can give... Fred
