Offering to Build Emacs, Gcc etc on Alpha

I've had considerable success in putting together emacs, gcc, and other gnu utilities on various platforms. I would also enjoy the chance just to mess around with an OSF or Linux Alpha machine. If someone would like to have emacs built and installed on an Alpha that can provide me access to such a platform to either work on in the Boston area, or telnet to via the net perhaps something can be worked out. I'll do the task for free, of course, and when finished I'll find a site to post the binaries publicly. -- Andrew E. Why not apply for a free account on one of the two Digital-sponsored DEC OSF/1 AXP systems? Telnet to axposf.pa.dec.com or axposf.stanford.edu and log in as axpguest, no password. However, I think that most of these tools have long since been ported to Alpha. -- Steve Lionel Mail: lionel@quark.enet.dec.com DEC Fortran Development WWW: http://www.digital.com/info/slionel.html Digital Equipment Corporation CompuServe: 75263,3001 110 Spit Brook Road, ZKO2-3/N30 Nashua, NH 03062-2698 "Free advice is worth every cent" For a summary of Digital's Internet services, send mail to info@digital.com

It's on the CD, in subset OSFEMACSnnn. 18.59.1 is too old. I even could not install ispell-3.1.13 with it. I had to compile 19.28 for installing ispell, although the compilation was quite smooth. -- --wuxu peng (peng@pirates.cs.swt.edu)

When I tried it, it said that it was not ported to the Alpha yet but should be with 19.29 or something like that. What did you alter in it? Joshua Gerth gerth@lclark.edu

There is patch for Alpha on gatekeeper. Read the file:
ftp://gatekeeper.dec.com/pub/GNU/emacs-19.28-alpha-patch.README
The patch is actually for 19.26.
