Hi everyone,

I will pay $20 to the person that can refer me to a shop that can and will
fix my IBM thinkpad (at a reasonable cost) before Wednesday March 26th.

The backlight on the LCD screen isn't working and I really need it for my 36
hour drive from Calgary back to Toronto. Without it, I'll be a bored mess!

PLEASE HELP!?!?

I live in NW Calgary.

You are looking at most likely a $400 spare part if you're lucky or
replacement of the entire LCD display at a cost of no less than $700 if
you're unlucky...and that will also depend on the model of your laptop. If
you're curious, call Metafore ask for a quote on an FL Inverter or an LCD
replacement screen for your laptop model.

But you can forget about the $20 offer....there will be no takers as the
time it takes to replace that alone will most likely be minimum 40 minutes
to 1.5 hours regardless of where you get it done. Rates now begin at $50 or
more for sure per hour.

If you happen to find a place... i am looking for a power supply for a p166
thinkpad. I don't know what the power specs are off the top of my head tho.
Anyone know where i could get one of those?

Hi everyone again,

I found out what was wrong.

When the notebook is closed there is a button that gets pressed that turns
off the backlight to save batteries. During a rough shipping, that button
was snapped off and got wedged into the hole that it goes in not allowing
the button to open back up when the notebook opens.

It was hard to figure out what was wrong but everything is working now.
Except now the lcd doesn't shut off when the notebook is closed. Oh well,
better than $700 repair

Thanks everyone.

Ferio
