It takes exactly 1(one!!) command to make a sphere in LW. > Also, what happens when you want to animate it? You wewre required to > load iup a second program. this is a throw back to the amiga operating system. while it may not be desirable to computer users these days, its a concept known as multi-tasking. I understand that this is a foreign concept to most pc users, (myself included, being that most of my work now gets done on a pc), but when running LW on an amiga it is VERY nice. > I am not in anyway skilled in Lightwave, but > have been using 3DS ever since day 1 and I got fed up with LW very > quickly. As for comparing MAX and LW, there is non. MAX is buy far > better than LW in features, functionality, support, and seats. I to am > a game artist, and we like so many other companies out there choose MAX. its each to their own... I cut my teeth on LW 1.0. It was a bitch to learn 3ds. and I much prefere LW to 3DS. the strength of 3DS lies in the IPAS plug ins available to it. there is sooooo many of them that it cant help being an awsome system. on the other hand LW does not need them. any competent animator that knows his LW can duplicate ANYTHING that can be done in 3DS... of course if your under tight deadlines, id say just use 3DS and get the plugins. LW is THE med. end choice for broadcast work. 3DS just dont do broadcast very well. for game designing its great, you dont need as high a res as b-cast. of course, if you want to do it right, throw out 3DS AND LW. straight to the waste basket. and get SoftImage NT. the system requirments are about the same as 3DS Max, ant it is THE ultimat in high end animation.
