Does anybody know how to create "backdrops" in Listboxes and edit boxes? What I am trying to create is e.g. a listbox where the background is a tiled bitmap, like in "Go!Zilla". I have been experimenting with the capture of the windows paint messages, but the results where not encouraging. Thanks for the help. Please reply by email. -- Don't get mad. Get even. The problem is, of course, to paint only a portion of a bitmap as one item is to be repainted. What you could do, is creating another bitmap with the size of the Listbox, and paint the bmp on this. As you draw one item, you use a CopyRect or BitBlt call to copy the appropriate background portion into your canvas. It has a cost, the extra size of the bmp in memory, but you won't be able to avoid this anyway, I guess. -- Bjoerge Saether Consultant / Developer Asker, Norway bsaether.removethis@online.no (remove the obvious)

Whoops ! Forgot one major thing: You will have to implement a WM_ERASEBCKGND message handler as well, to transefer the background picture into the canvas i.e. in an empty listbox. -- Bjoerge Saether Consultant / Developer Asker, Norway bsaether.removethis@online.no (remove the obvious)
