    This isn't necessary, since all log levels above the lowest are
automatically included.  Only mail.debug is necessary on that line, and
the rest will follow automatically.

> *.=info;*.=notice                               /usr/adm/messages

    This will get mail.info and mail.notice as well (you did specify all
log facilities).

> *.=debug                                        /usr/adm/debug

    This will get mail.debug as well.  I.e., it will be a complete
superset of the mail.log file you outlined above.

> *.warn                                          /usr/adm/syslog

    This will get all mail.warn stuff as well.
