Hey, things were broken so badly that *I* didn't get a renewal. And free
membership is not a perq of being a director. On investigation, it turned
out that our fullfilment house (who mailed README, maintained the mailing list
and a few other things) had this software bug that updated your "last paid"
date instead of "last updated" date. So, a change of address made you *LOOK*
paid up for another year. Two changes of address, like from not quite getting
it right the first time, and hey, that's *TWO* years.
They thought I was paid up until about '96.
We sacked them, and have brought that function back in-house. And I eventually
wrote a check to renew. (Although interestingly enough, you don't have to
*STAY* a member to be an officer, just be one to get elected. Weird....)
So, if you used to be a SUG member, and aren't anymore because you never
got a renewal, just send e-mail to office@sug.org. They'll even take your
MC/Visa over the phone, FAX or e-mail. Just don't FAX a check. They've
figured that one out already..... 8{)

I've forwarded this already.
