Hi, I have a TeleBit NetBlazer ST and I am trying to get it to work right with Linux. Ok this is my problem, my users dialin toteh NetBlazer and a command line does a rlogin to my main server. This workes great, the problem is when user try to download a fiel with sz, sx, or kermit they get a LOT of errors every sec or so, and you can't upload at all. I also have a strange problem when the users who dialin are using ytalk or talk every once in a while you get: 0 13 So if you can help me with any of these problems please send me soem email as soon as possible. :-) Thanks, -- Nathan Stratton NovaNet, Inc. We have a public-access cluster of Linux boxes connected to a network with three Netblazer ST's. We find that when using rlogin from the netblazers, zmodem fails and pine puts garbage all over the screen. If we use telnet from the netblazers, everything works. Note also that using rlogin to another architecture (IBM or Sun) works fine -- pine behaves, and zmodem works. We're puzzled as well... It's confusing a lot of our users. -f -- Frank Dwyer (dwyer@scri.fsu.edu) Office: 443 SCL (904) 644-6008 http://www.scri.fsu.edu/~dwyer FAX : (904) 644-0098 Unix System Manager / Systems Development Pager : (904) 422-4333 Supercomputer Computations Research Institute Florida State University Tallahassee, FL 32306 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Unix _IS_ user friendly... You have to use "rlogin -8" to make rlogin 8-bit-clean. Otherwise rlogin
will eat parts of the character set.

The "-8" is necessary to get an eight-bit transparent connection. The "-noesc" tells the NetBlazer to ignore the session escape sequence (default ^]<cr>) which would otherwise suspend the rlogin session and return to the NetBlazer command prompt. This is necessary to prevent failure of file transfers that just happen to contain the escape characters in the data. Otherwise you could try "telnet -8 -noesc". The "-8" option to the NetBlazer telnet client passes eight bits but does *not* negotiate Telnet binary mode like the "-b" option does. The problem with using "-b" is that most Unix hosts will set the pty to raw mode so you don't get the usual <cr> to <lf> mapping. If you do use "-b", you will probably have to give a "stty sane<lf>". I haven't tried any of this with Linux yet, as I only just installed Linux on my home system last night. Cheers, Eric
