Voicetype for Warp 4 - how to convert to UK version.

I noticed someone mentioned that Warp 4's Voicetype can be
converted from the US version to the UK version. I donwloaded the
CSD1_UK from IBM's ftp site but it says that you have to have the UK
version installed for you to apply it.

Does this mean I have to approach IBM for a conversion direct from
them?

We Aussies don't talk like you Yanks for too many words to make
training up the Voicetype up seem too much like hard work like maybe
up to 30h instead of the normal 3h! What a stupid decision for IBM
to release the US version to us here!

TIA

Well not all of us Yanks speak like yanks. Try to get the standard US version
to understand Midwestern Scots with a broad accent. The mic does not pick
up the near silent vowels and syllables. Then all the other idiosyncrasy.
Want to start a war....come to Missouri and ask for the proper pronuonciation
of the name.

It took my mother 20 years before she could here the secound syllable when
we all talked about a barrow pit, all she could hear was "bar pit". It may
take that long or longer to get the program to hear suck. Well so much for
standardizd Yank.

For spellings and VT the UK version would be better.
For character set and other settings the US version is better for us, IMHO.
Given the choice, I would still go for a US version over a UK version, but
I don't use VT.

If you want to put UK fixes on, you should already have the UK version.
If you want to use the UK version of OS/2, then get it.

If you want to convert the VT component from US to UK on a US version of
OS/2, install the US VT component (new OS/2 install, or selective install) so
that "the system" knows it is there, and overlay the VT directory and all its
subdirectories with a UK version of the VT "tree".

It's all documented in vtuk.txt (22,123 bytes). The data is supplied in
vtuk.zip (18,473,290 bytes) both of which I downloaded from the Canberra
PC Users' Group (sorry if the name is not exactly right). Again, I have no
URL, but someone previously posted it here in the last 6 months so dejanews
should be able to get it for you.

The registration/enrollment exercises are much easier for an Australian speaker
with the UK version, I found, but again, I didn't bother with it in my latest OS/2
install effort.

Cheers - hth, Greg
