Is there an anonymous ftp site where I can obtain
scaner drivers?
I have a Microtek ScanMaker II (model # MRS-600Zs) that I
want to connect to my NCR computer (microchannel) SCSI
port, running both DOS/Windows3.1 and WindowsNT 3.51.
I was able to hook this scanner to my parents' 486 (not microchannel)
using the "scsi interface card/module" and the driver that
it came with and it worked fine. But I can't use that driver
anymore because it asks me for the address of the
interface card which I'm not using on my NCR computer.
The scsi controller is NCR53c700.
I tried calling Microtek but I was on hold for about 15 minutes
before another recording came on saying the wait could
be as long as 45 minutes. So I hung up.
Any info/help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've sent faxes (both to Microtek Europe and Microtek USA) I've tried to E-mail to a weird E-mail addr. I've grabbed from a www site ... Nothing happened. Is Microtek aware of the fact they have customers and ought to treat'em right ? -- Frederic R. However, I hear the scan mechanism moving. I think the scanner drivers in CorelSCSI 2 should work, but since I can't get CorelSCSI to see the scanner, I couldn't try yet.

However, I just got a used MicroTek ScanMaker II at a good price, so I bought it. As to all the problems people are having, here is what I found out. To use an ASPI compatible SCSI card (not the MicroTek card), the EPROM in the scanner must be version 5.11 or greater. I had lots of problems trying to use my scanner with my Adaptec card at first (EPROM v5.09). I called MicroTek and was told that if I ordered the new ScanWizard software for $49, I would get the EPROM for free. The EPROM that came was version 5.61. The scanner works fine now, with my Adaptec 2742T and Windows 95. Although the MicroTek sales guy told me that the software I bought was a Windows 95 version, it was not. However, it seems to work fine. I would like to see a real Windows 95 scanner driver, though. ---------------------------------------------- Joe Gray <jgray@onramp.net> MIME capable.
