In article <na.766895474a.a40080mdavies@argonet.co.uk>, Malcolm Davies
<mdavies@argonet.co.uk> wrote a lot of stuff trying to help me read DOS
Syquests.

I have spent most of the day (wet & cold here!) and have learnt a lot.

I attach some of the long text file I have written for myself on the
subject:

PC-format SyQuests on the PC card
=================================

Set-up
^^^^^^
RiscPC/SA/RISCOS 3.7/PC486 DX100/PC DOS 7.0/Windows 3.1/Power-tec SCSI-2.
!PCx86 software is v1.92 and the !PCConfig that came with it.
Primary PC partition (Drive C) is in a 250Mb DOSDisc file on a SCSI IBM
1Gb HD. SCSI CDROM drive (initially Drive D) also fitted.

I want to create a single 'partition' in pure DOS format on a new 270Mb
SyQuest cartridge supplied in Mac format. The Syquest utilities supplied on
floppy with the drive include a specific 'Install' program for DOS & Windows
which /should/ install an appropriate driver and allow recovery of the
'tools' on the new cartridge and leave the cartridge as an empty DOS
partition. My aim is to recover these tools as well, but there is a warning
that they will not be accessible after using FDISK, so it's a forlorn hope
:-(

All the original set-up is working well under both DOS and Windows,
including sound and with various commercial CD ROMs.

Procedure
^^^^^^^^^

etc, etc, etc

There is a lot more to it and some news both good and bad. The good is that
all this is totally unnecessary with my /Power-tec/ firmware (and possibly
with others); the bad is that I have a knackered SyQuest cartridge :-(

I have put the text file on a.a.binaries because it is rather long for here
(6k)

Brian.
