I like the concept behind StrongEDs "File menu" - click on the extreme left edge of the screen, and bring up a collection of pre-decided files and recently run (history) files. It is possible to be build a lot on that concept, since it nullifies one hassle; opening filer-windows on a desktop filled with program windows. I'm not saying that the Iconbar -> Filer-window access-route is bad - I'd frown at anyone who would bring us towards the abominable Windos/MacOS-solutions - but in some instances the need to open umpteen filer-windows in the process of hunting down a file on top of, say, programs which uses ages to refresh their display-window, is a true pain. (Pardon the awful sentence.) If the File-menu idea were extended to include some of the features of Ben Summers brill "Memorizer" (notably filetype icons) and maybe a few semi-clairvoyant tricks noone's thought of so far, we'd be moving in the right direction. Ideas, anyone? :) -- Regards, Sveinung W.
