If you wire up an EIA connector so that the modem thinks there is a
valid DTE device there (for starters, try connecting DSR into DTR and
probably RTS), the data leads should just work but set up so a constant
speed is used between the modem and ds100 regardless of how slow the
dialed connection is.

You have NO out of band flow control, obviously, so any flow control you
may be able to use will have to be xon/xoff and at much lower speeds
than those modems are capable of. The ds100 is a big limit. I think 19.2
is its max. If flow control is messing you up, you may have to run
without it. You will lose the advantage of your compressing modems. If
you are stuck this way, and need to support different dialin speeds,
then try setting up autobaud and the modems to pass break.

There should be some combination that works adquately. Hopefully,
someone has done all this and will post wiring diagrams, and modem
and ds100 port settings. I am just guessing without having used a ds100
with a modem (thankfully).

You will have NO security. Lose a connection, and you can dial right
back in and continue where you left off - or so can anyone else.
