I am both a VMS and Ultrix customer with my installed base of VMS systems far outweighing my Ultrix systems. I note that many of the previous postings deal with Ultrix issues--I would certainly like to have the same level of patch availability for both platforms. Yes I do make use of DSNlink for VMS and have found it to be very useful in getting patches and access to articles describing problems, _BUT_ for a site that has both Internet and DSNlink connectivity, there is no question that the Internet provides a more stable means of communication. Given the resources that Digital pours into DSNlink, DSIN, the CSC, and gatekeeper, it seems a shame that the several electronic service facilities cannot be used to provide access to the same information. Digital seems to have its heart in the correct place, but sadly the hands are often flailing in opposing directions. Please, give serious consideration to opening the electronic gates to the archives of patches and articles. Please, have faith in the customer's ability to diagnose and solve problems, and then give them access to the tools to keep their systems running at the level of functionality that they were sold. Well run systems do more to sell products than a whole fleet of sales critters. Go for it! --Larry -- Larry Fahnoe Cellular One 612/832-7616 7900 S.
