There really is not a more popular NOS (Network Operating System). The decision should be based on what you want to do with your network. If you want an application server than Microsoft is your answer. If you want a secure file system server than Novell is your answer. More and more environments are going mixed. So if you have the money and the time your best bet is to get certified on both Microsoft and Novell.
