If you buy memory then 1Mb equals 1024 x 1024 bytes (binary Mb)
If you buy a hard disk then 1Mb equals 1000 x 1000 bytes (decimal Mb)

If you multiply 504 Mb (binary) into decimal Mb you get 528.
ie. 504 x 1024 x 1024 = 528,482,304

Problem is the drive manufacturers describe 528,482,304 bytes as 528Mb
whereas DOS (correctly) describes it as 504Mb.
