Don't waste your time by posting this kind of stupid and needless thoughts to people who is trying to appreciate for their help. You should not post any of your stupid premature thoughts to this newsgroup without recognizing what people do to help each other by sharing their expertise. You should also know that people giving advice and willing to find time to help other's problem are professional. I guess you are a college kid now. You should educate yourself more on courtesy of people helping each other. Regrets, Joseph An VMI

Come on Joseph - lighten up! Anyway I think Shawn was trying to be funny - I admit it's pretty feeble but it almost qualifies as a joke. -- D.M.Miller, Computer Services Group Dynamics Division, GEC-Marconi Radar & Defence Systems Ltd The Grove, Warren Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex, HA7 4LY, UK Mailto:dave.m.miller@gecm.com I'm speaking for myself - not my employer

While I agree that the money comment was kinda dumb, I'd like to point out that the "profesionals" are not the only users of SGI gear, a firend of mine (happens to be a colledge student) is writing his own program that will extract 3 dimensonal data form a 2- photograph, then display it wiht VR goggles. He's had his share of problems on his 2 Processor RE2 Onyx (the dang thing has 2GB of RAM... GRR...) Age has nothing to do with it. It's what you can do that counts. -- Ben Cannon. artherd@a.crl.com ____________________________________________________________ ftp://my-un-smart-pc/ben.htm between 3:00 and 9:00 weekdays. Ben, Thanks for the response. You can scand simple 2D images and extrude them into 3D object. If your friend develops the program that can have 2D scanned image into 3D object automatically it will save a lot of time doing 3D modeling. Hope he comes out with the final product. Keep up the good work! Best, Joseph An Ben Cannon wrote: I'm still having trouble having trouble figuring how they can get the 3-D data out of the 2-D scanned image!! (I belive it has something to do with knowing the positition of the light in 3 dimensions, as well as the distance of one boject form you to the camera.) I really don't know too much about the project, other than that Onyx makes on ehell of a DOOM playing machine :) We were talking awhile about exporting some of the 3-D files in VRML format which brought it up. If you're interested, his E-mail address is : Bryon Nordquist <nordquis@cs.unc.edu> I'm sure he can tell you allot more about the project than I can!!! Best Regards Ben.
