I am running DOS 5.0, Windows 3.1, and QEMM version 6 (I think, but I forgot to check) on my 386/33, 4Mb. I am trying to reconfigure QEMM so that it leaves some extended memory (it is currently configured to manage all extended memory as expanded memory). My CONFIG.SYS contains: Device=QEMM.SYS RAM ROM EXTMEM=1024 DOS=HIGH and nothing else. When I do this, Windows will not boot in enhanced mode, but will in standard mode. If I remove either the EXTMEM=1024 phrase or remove DOS=HIGH, Windows boots just fine. It doesn't matter how much memory I try to leave unconverted (EXTMEM=1 has the same effect). When Windows tries to start, the logo comes up and I am then returned politely to a C: prompt, with no messages of any kind. What's going on? Thanks, Roger Lipsett Intermetrics, Inc.
