hi there, I am having lots of problems with that Dec. The last problem is, there was a lock file, seeming to be a link, which was probably caused by an mail agent. I tried to remove it, somehow, with unlinks, and removes it's gone. But just after that no user other than root could gain access to the system. Error message is "no directory". According to manuals, that's usually due to an NFS problem. But reality is not so. All user directories are there. I have checked passwd, and group files. they seem to be ok. But the same cannot login problem occurs when dummy new users are added to the system. My only solution left is to get the old backups, and load them. But that is hard to do, than said. Is there a way to go out of that condition gracefully? thank you in advance. kk, kursad@ege.edu.tr
