So *that's* why I haven't heard back from support@redhat.com... I'm running Red Hat 2.0 (I even re-installed it last night because I accidentally demolished my /var/lib/rpm directory) right now, and Netscape and other a.out (pre-ELF) binaries are running just fine. Did you click on 'a.out compatibility' when you installed? I'm not sure what this did, but I'm running a.outs okay (including some I compiled under a 1.0 kernel) without libc.so.4 installed. If you really want to install libc.so.4 and other a.out libraries, do the following: 1. Mount the Red Hat CD #1. You should be able to do this by just typing mount /mnt/cdrom. You may have to create this directory first (I did). 2. cd /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS 3. rpm -qpl aout-libs-1.2-1.i386.rpm This will show you all the files which are contained in the RPM. You should see about 25 libraries, including libc.so.4/libc.so.4.7.2. 4. rpm -i aout-libs-1.2-1.i386.rpm This will actually install the libraries. Should take about a minute for all 4 steps. -- Garrett P.
