It is most convenient to have one main Linux partition (300 Meg or more),
and one swap partition of about 30 Meg. You already have 2 partitions
(including the extended partition) and you can add 2 more primary partitions.
It is possible to use logical drives in an extended partition instead of
creating new primary partitions. However, extending a logical partition
may not be possible with DOS or Linux fdisk. It is possible with OS/2
fdisk.

Multiple Linux partitions are necessary if there is more than one hard disk,
or if you need to have a small bootable partition below cylinder 1024 (as
with order IDE systems). I have found multiple partitions to be somewhat
inconvenient; use one partition if you can.

: BTW, is there any good backup program out there ? Something like
: Fastback or PC-Backup for DOS ? All I found is tar and one very
: expensive program ( > $1000 per licence ).
