I have seen several questions asking if it worth paying the extra
for EDO RAM and PB (Sync) cache. I have even seen some companies
leaving L2 cache off altogether if buying EDO RAM. So inresponce
to this here are some figures quoted from Dec 95 issue of PC Magazine.
The PC used was a Pentium 120 in Trition board, when cache was used
its 256k. Tests carried out with Winstone 95. (Note the graph is
crap, so the figures are slightly rounded)
FPM EDO
Cache | RAM | RAM
------------------------
0k | 132 | 140
------------------------
Async | 148 | 149
------------------------
Sync | 168 | 171
Obviously, these are bench mark figures, thus in real usage preformance
difference varies. Its up to you to decide if the Preformance/Cost
increase is worth it, this just gives you some information to make
up you own mind.
