letter.  "Hey Maurice, I just added five letters to the end of every
word, and they are all silent!"  And for all that the scrawl still needs
more crap hovering over and dangling from letters to make all the
sounds.  Somebody should go in with a roto-rooter and a wood chipper,
and then introduce the apostrophe.)

Here is Uncle Al's simple guide to de novo cultural interface:  If you
find them, they are in trouble.  If they find you, you are in trouble. 
You had better pray there really is nobody out there, certainly nobody
with a hankering to visit.  Remember Christ-besotted Spanish psychotic
felons vs native Amerindian depauperate genetic throwbacks in the
1500s.  20 million corpses voiced no complaints.

Imagine what would have resulted if the Spanish had been at all serious,
even competent, in their efforts.  "To Serve Man."  Yes indeedy!

All the recent noise about ET brings to mind an interesting point.  Is
Hollywood et al. fashionably shearing the sheep with a marketable (focus
groups) concept, or does Slick Willy and our Congresscritters have a
little surprise for which they are softening the blow?
