I have built gnuchessr on an Amiga 3000 using a unix emulation library
(by Markus Wild). Everything seems functional except one thing...

I've noticed a small memory leak! I would like to know if anyone has
verified the integrity of the GNU Chess software proper for memory
leaks?

The leak is a consistant 232 bytes. It is reproduced by:

8> m

I would like to know that I'm not chasing a known leak before diving in!
I also realize that it may be outside of the chess code (proper).

A memory leak of this kind is impossible on a real Unix system. When
a process exits, all of its memory is reclaimed by the system. I
don't know anything about Amigas, but if an Amiga process is
responsible for freeing memory when it exits to avoid leaks, any
library code that does Unix emulation must take on this
responsibility; you can't expect code written for Unix to do it. So
if there is any bug, I would say it must be in the Unix emulation code
you are using, not in gnuchess itself.

Yes! It was reproducible. It had nothing to do with GNU Chess.
Thanks for your interest.

ANOTHER QUESTION:

Is GNUAN (the analysis program) functional and stable? I tried it
very quickly and had some difficulty. Quickly.... It began to evaluate
the game, but then seemed to stop after one or two moves.

I didn't look very hard at this. For now, I just want a rough idea of
the state of this program.

Thanks... [ rbm2273@ultb.isc.rit.edu ]
