a couple of people have pointed out that the newest version of gnuserv
does exactly this. Grab gnuserv.tar.Z off the elisp-archive (not in
the epoch directory, I think it's in "packages") and install
gnuserv.el.epoch. Works like a charm - this buffer itself is of that
variety.
(what's gnuserv, you ask? Run it in your emacs, and set EDITOR and
VISUAL to be "gnuclient". When you run "gnuclient" it attaches to your
running emacs and adds in a new buffer. Big win.)
