Hi, I'm pretty sure this is a bug, but I can't figure out
whether it's in gs or the dfaxhigh driver. I think it's
gs, because I can sometimes replicate it using other devices.
I'm using a SGI machine, I compiled gs using both cc and gcc
and got the same error, and am using gs version 2.4.1. The
test file below is simply 2 lines of regular text; the text1
file is a postscript file that I know is OK, as I looked at
it carefully, have printed it to a QMS printer, and displayed
in the ghostscript box!
As you can see, the only difference between the two commands below is
in the name of the outfile; in the first command, it's called fax, in
the second faxj. It makes no sense to me why this miniscule difference
makes the whole command crash.
% /usr/local/bin/ghostscript/gs -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=dfaxhigh
-sOUTPUTFILE=/tmp/fax /tmp/faxda14744
Unrecoverable error: unknownerror in setdevice
Operand stack:
--nostringval--
%
% /usr/local/bin/ghostscript/gs -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=dfaxhigh
-sOUTPUTFILE=/tmp/faxj /tmp/faxda14744
GS>quit
If anyone can tell me what to fix, I'd appreciate it a lot,
because I'd like to get the software I'm working on that
uses this (fax software) up and running.
Regards,
Jonathan
