"The Charter of Rights is about preventing the majority from
taking away the rights of a minority. The Government should not
persecute a minority in this way."
Quoted from his CBC town hall last
night.

(Apparently this rule does not apply to gun owners.)

So Martin thinks its ok for un-elected, political appointed judges to
legislate laws? Thats what he's proposing...uploading to the SCC. This is
the way its done in the US...
This clown is getting scarier all the time.

He does back his party's anti-Harper ads--even if one really did piss
off a lot of people in the military.

OK, the military one didn't get broadcast on the media, but it still got
posted briefly on the Liberal Party of Canada website, which for all
intents and purposes is publishing it.

From what I've read about his comments on the last English language
leaders debate (which I missed because I was haning chair rails), it
sounds like he is doing a good job of alienating his federalist
supporters in Quebec.

He's quite happily defending Ralph Goodale. OK, considering the income
turst matter is still under investigation, and the RCMP hasn't dug up
anything to implicate Goodale at this time. BTW, SEC did an opinion
poll of 450 Ontario residents, and close to 1/2 think Goodale should
step aside as Finance Minister until this thing is cleared up.

Unless he has a shoe collection like the wife of Imelda Marcos, he must
be running out of size 16s to stick in his mouth by now.

Anyway, there is still a week and a half to go in the campaign.

A lot could happen between now and election day, though Harper did move
fairly quickly to defuse one land mine that could have hurt his campaign
badly--cutting the candidate who is facing court time over some
smuggling charges loose.

Right now, I think the absolute best rabbit Martin could pull out of the
hat is another Liberal minority government. And I have a feeling that
he might need to count on a couple of good Tory screw-ups to get that.

It would help if your fellow citizens could dump that harridan, Mclellan.

There are 12,000,000 sheep in Ontario.
Problem is 9,000,000 of them think they are people.

It only applies to minority groups like faggots, the coloured, immigrants,
and various other POLITICALLY CORRECT cliques.

Appointments to the US Supreme Court are FAR from being automatic. There are
various hearings, committees etc etc which must approve. In Canada, ALL IT
TAKES is the PMO to nominate. THAT is ALL it takes in Canada. No recall,
either.

Whatever happens, Edmonton Centre will be a very close race.

Two things helping Laurie Hawn are--

--I understand Conservative support in Alberta is over 60%
--He seems to have got his campaign running a bit faster

Two things helping McLellan are--

--Last provincial election, the Liberals just about buried the
    Conservatives in Edmonton
--McLellan's lawn signs have been sprouting like mushrooms
    over the last week.

I have to laugh at all this turmoil over "Soldiers with guns. In our
cities."

We have police with guns in our cities.
We don't have ENOUGH of them, so wouldn't this be extra protection from
crime, etc?
Pretty much every other country in the world provides an armed protective
presence of some kind.
What are they going to do? Burst into our homes, take away our rights and
freedoms and seize/ban all weapons?
Aren't the politicians doing that anyway?

I stay a long way from politics and such, because they're laughable. If they
combined all of their GOOD ideas, and did away with the silly 'balance'
system they have now, things would get done. But that just ain't gonna
happen.

So I'll keep laughing. I know too many young people that went into politics
ripe for change and full of ideas and eagerness, only to get beaten into
line with the system.

Strike 1:

I'm too freaking stupid to raise my children without government
interference and that I'll spend Harper's $1200 on beer and popcorn.

Strike 2:

I am responsible for the gang violence and death in Toronto because I
am a "so-called" gun collector.

Strike 3:

I know when I am not wanted. What to do? Where should I move?

The military ad ran on teh French networks...talk about intimadating Quebec,
trying to bring back memories of teh FLQ/War Measures Act.

It was umourous to hear Keith Martin, Lib MP for Comox Valley, BC (large
military base there), saying "some idiot approved of the ad" and then
hearing Paul Martin saying he approved the ad. Well I guess we now know who

Excellent point.

Except for the occasional check stop, you don't see people going through
police checkpoints on their way to and from work and being being
demanded to produce papers to verify their identity.

Agreed. We are short something like 1,000 people to fill emply RCMP
positions.

I was going to say we should ask the Liberal Party of Canada why these
positions aren't filled, then I remembered, they don't want people with
guns on our streets.

I LOVE IT!!!

I guess, in the event the Liberals do form anothe rminority government
after the election, Keith Martin can kiss any kind of a cabinet position
good-bye. That's probably a good thing because it might keep him out of
more serious trouble.

It's such a dictatorship like some european jazz, which is even crawling
up the Swiss.

1] Lieberal recumbent still spouting off a handgun ban, and some organization
like ISU, will bow to the little supreme court 'bargains' like making shooters
cover their bolt to enter competition...therefore alleviating potential range
hazards...to feed Carl Walthers and the Kreever Group of 9...

2] CPC Harper wants military in the city for a city, or wants to send them on a
trip to a foreign country so they can play there. As for the City infiltration,
guess what that means...gungrabs and selected, obedient, kids to run the show...

That would apply if owning a gun was a right. But it is not.
This is why the talk about including property rights would get the
govenment out of the shooting ranges of the public. But then would it
not give peopel a right to own land, and houses, and if they didn't
have any, would it not be the government's job to make sure they had
that right? I don't know, property rights get messy. Just look at
divorce!

No, Judges do not make law, they just ensure that existing legislation
does not break the highest law in the land - the Constitution. If it
does, then they have the power to strike it down.

Example, a government uses legislation to execute people named Jack,
and begins executing people named Jack, legally. Then it goes to the
supreme court and they determine that this law conflicts with rights
imposed under the charter of rights, so they strike the law down, and
they can't execute people named Jack anymore.

However if the constitution said Jacks are excluded, they could still
kill you, because there is nothing the almighty, un-elected judges
could do to over-ride the constitution.

However there is something any government can do to overide the
constitution, invoke the notwithstanding clause. So as you see the
ultimate power is not with the courts, nor the constitution, but with
any immoral or corrupt government of the day.

This is why we need to ammend the constitution so it can't be perverted
by a seasonal government. It's about the only good idea Martin has had
all campaign.
And it may just be the hardest part to change, as if you already have
power, are you going to allow a situation where a constitution could
overide your power?

Is it possible that the Libs believe that this registry is only to help prevent
gun crimes? (and that it in no way "persecutes" honest law-abiding gun
owners)?

Personally I agree with the principle if only applied to handguns &
semi-automatic & higher rifles, but I can't recall the last time anyone
attempted to rob a bank or 7-11 with a deer rifle! So why is it necessary for
those up north and other remote areas to register their rifles & shotguns,
except to have a list of people to confiscate these potential last defenses
from when the government goes real bad?

Exactly and THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS that HAS to change. It is
2006..time to SIT BACK and TAKE A REALLY HARD LOOK AT WHAT trudeau,
cretain and MARTIN have done over the last number of years and figure
out HOW to make politicians more accountable for the money they get in
salary and their jobs. Political FREEBIES have to end.

Almost certainly Ontario or Quebec. Demography and geography suggest
this. The per captia ownership is another matter.
